The man whose body was pulled from Nickajack Lake last week has been identified as a 27-year-old man reported missing in Nashville.

The body was identified as Charles Wayne Pitts Jr., of 736 Paige Circle, Nashville, Tenn., Marion County Sheriff's Office Det. Gene Hargis said on Wednesday.

According to an account in the Tennessean on Dec. 20, Pitts was last seen Dec. 5 at his Paige Circle residence. His father reported him missing on Dec. 9.

Pitts quit his job before he disappeared and the police said he may struggle with depression, the Tennessean article said. Pitts last used his phone on Dec. 7 and his bank card the following day.

Pitts was last seen driving his 2016 silver Dodge Charger.

Marion County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Billy Powell said on Tuesday that Pitts vehicle helped lead to his identity.

Pitts' body was found by two Grundy County fishermen around 1 p.m. CST Dec. 22 washed up on the shoreline near the Interstate 24 bridge over Nickajack Lake, Powell said.
